The SE Hollowbody Standard and its cousin the Hollowbody II are built in China at a facility run by PRS partner Core-Tek Musical Instruments.
How is PRS Hollowbody II made?
Its body is constructed from 5-ply laminated maple with figured maple veneer on the top and back, with mahogany on the middle. A 25″ scale guitar, its mahogany Wide Fat neck is glued to the body. Upper-fret access is generous thanks to the scooped cutaway and recessed neck heel, so typical of PRS builds.
What’s the difference between PRS SE and S2?
The main differences between PRS SE, S2, Bolt-on or CE, and Core lines are that SEs are built with affordable components in Indonesia and Korea. S2s are built in America but make compromises in hardware and finishes. Cores (set neck) and CEs (bolt-on neck) are American-made with the highest quality standards.

Are PRS guitars made in China?

Note: the McCarty name is now used only on the 594 Hollowbody II. The new SE versions we have in for review, however, are something of a more classic hollow or semi- acoustic guitar design.

The primary difference between the two SE Hollowbody guitars is the wood used for the top and back. The Standard uses a five-ply mahogany that you can see at the edges of the unbound f-holes. Unlike an ES-335, the Hollowbody is exactly that; you won’t find a center block here.
