How many Level 4 NICUs are there in Texas?

20 Level IV NICUs
In Texas, there are 20 Level IV NICUs, and the Dallas area has four of them. They are Children’s Medical Center, Cook Children’s Medical Center, Medical City Dallas Hospital, and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano. San Antonio also has four, Houston has three, and Austin has two.

Can you stay in the hospital if your baby is in the NICU?

Parents can visit and spend time with their babies who stay in the NICU. Other family members might be able to visit, but only during set hours and only a few at a time. Children visiting the NICU must be well (not sick) and should have all their immunizations.

What is the difference between Level 3 and Level 4 NICU?

A level 3 NICU cares for babies born before 32 weeks gestation, weigh less than 3 pounds, 5 ounces, have medical conditions or need surgery. A level 4 NICU is equipped to perform advanced imaging, including MRI and echocardiography, among many other criteria.

What’s the highest level NICU?

Level 4 is the highest level of NICU – providing experience caring for the most complex and critically ill newborns.

Can I take my newborn out of NICU?

Most babies will grow out of these events by the time they were due to be born. Most NICUs require babies to be free from events for 3-5 days before going home.
