Are NHS cadets free?

If you qualify, it is completely free to join NHS Cadets and take part in the programme. Where we offer bonus opportunities, such as awards and courses, we try to ensure they are either free, fully-funded, or offer financial support options.

How old do you need to be to join St Johns Ambulance?

Our roles are open to applicants over the age of 18.

What age can you join the cadets?

Cadets typically range in age from 12 to 18 years old. Adult Volunteers typically range from 18 to 65 years old.

What do NHS cadets do?

NHS Cadets aims to attract young people into careers in the healthcare system and develop their skills so that they are ready to fully sustain themselves in health volunteering opportunities. The programme is offered initially to 14-16 year olds sitting within underrepresented groups and is a 36-week programme.

What do Ambulance cadets do?

Being a St John Ambulance Cadet is a great way for young people to volunteer and learn valuable life skills. You’ll then be able to put your first aid skills into practice at public events including the London Marathon, music festivals and football matches.

Who can join St John Ambulance?

Membership. Membership in SJAM is open to all individuals of good character, good physique and medically fit between 17 and 65 years of age.

Who is the operating authority for the St John Ambulance Award?

St John Ambulance NI is a licensed operating authority for the award. However, if you are completing your award through school or another organisation there are lots of activities which you can complete at your Cadet unit that could also count towards your award.
