5.0 out of 5 stars Very good. I’ve used the brush on product in the past and found it to give exellent protection to vulnerable parts of the underside of a vehicle. I bought the aerosol, this time, for easier application and to spot treat only. Covers well “dries” to a good flexible finish.

Does underbody seal stop rust?
The Hammerite Underbody Seal with added Waxoyl, gives heavy-duty protection to high-impact areas of your vehicle, such as wheel arches, underbody etc. Powerful rust inhibitors based on the proven Waxoyl system displace moisture and seal the surface against further corrosion to give lasting protection.
Does Waxoyl go hard?
I think you will have to wait quite a while for the black Waxoyl to dry as it isn’t supposed to go totally hard. I’d put on disposable gloves and turn the chassis over. Reassemble and then finish off the Waxoyling. On my new galv chassis I etch primed and then used polyurethane household paint.
How long does it take Underseal to dry?
The vehicle is ready for driving after about 1-2 hours, depending on the weather conditions and coating thickness. Final through-drying takes approx. 12 hours.
What does underbody seal do?
Hammerite Underbody Seal gives heavy duty protection for underbody, wheel arches and other high impact areas. Protects against stones, water and salt with proven corrosion resistance. Remains flexible, will not crack or peel like most bitumen underbody seals.
Can you apply underseal over rust?
To be honest, slapping underseal onto known rust will not kill it and I would avoid doing it if you are keeping the car for any length of time. It will just hide it, up until the time that you start seeing the rust come through again.
What is Hammerite Underbody Seal?
Hammerite Underbody Seal gives heavy duty protection for underbody, wheel arches and other high impact areas. Protects against stones, water and salt. Proven corrosion resistance.
Is Hammerite OK to use under a car?
Hammerite is OK for raillings and the like but is not designed for use under a car -too brittle. I made the mistake of using hammerite under my Minor 5 years ago and it is now flaking off in patches, despite using waxoy over the top. BTW, best to remove all rust for a lasting job as “paint over products” do not last.
What type of paint do you use on the underside?
In high impact areas (wheel arches, inside of wings etc) after rust repairs, prime, then use anti stone chip paint followed by primer and paint. For non impact areas, floor pan, etc, I like to use chassis black paint.- much nicer and cheaper than hammerite. Then the whole underside gets a good coat of underbody wax- dinitrol for example.
How long does it take for underseal paint to set?
Let it set for about an hour before a second coat. It will take a few weeks to fully set. If you want to remove the underseal at any point you can use WD40. I coat all my suspension components in underseal as I don’t bother with paint anymore as it is too fragile.
