Instructions
- Fill the glass with water.
- Put the mirror into the water inside the glass at an angle.
- Position the glass so that sunlight shines directly at the mirror.
- Look for a reflection on the wall.
- Adjust the angle of the mirror until you see a rainbow on the wall.
Can you make a fake rainbow?
Make sure that the glass of water is VERY FULL. Place the glass on a white floor or white piece of paper, making sure the sun’s rays are shining through the slot in your paper and hitting the surface of the water. You should see a mini-rainbow appear below the glass!
How do you make a prism CD?
You can also make a prism using a CD. Poke a small hole in a piece of aluminum foil and fold the foil over the flashlight. Shine the flashlight onto the back of the CD. Or you can get a prism effect simply by holding the CD up to a light bulb so that the back of the CD faces the light bulb.

What can I use instead of a prism?
